VarshaKrishi

About VarshaKrishi

VarshaKrishi builds affordable satellite-based crop monitoring for Indian smallholder farmers — the people who farm a hectare or two and for whom a missed irrigation or an unnoticed pest outbreak is a serious loss.

What we do

We take public satellite imagery — Copernicus Sentinel-2, NASA HLS, Sentinel-1 radar, and hyperspectral passes where available — and turn it into a plain sentence in the farmer’s own language about what is happening in their field. Weather, soil and terrain data are fused in so that a recommendation accounts for rain that is coming, not only for what the crop looked like on the last clear day.

How we try to be trustworthy

Who it is for

Individual farmers use the app directly. FPOs and agribusinesses use the dashboard to see their whole membership at once. Where farmers do not have a smartphone, our field team registers fields on their behalf and hands the account over later.

Where we are

The platform is in pilot. We are onboarding farmers and FPO partners and using their feedback to decide what to build next. Institutions, KVKs, universities and NGOs work with us as validation and distribution partners.

Programmes

Entrepreneur-in-Residence fellowship at the 5G/6G Centre of Excellence, and association with SIIC, IIT Kanpur.
